Projects

Throughout my career, I have had the privlage to work on a number of special projects. I'm proud to showcase these as a demonstration of my ability to take a plan all the way from initiation to completion and share some of my success stories with you.

Jammernomicon Database

Dec. 2021 - Jan. 2022

During my tenure at Genesis Digital, I spearheaded the development of the "Jammernomicon" database to address the challenge of information accessibility among remote team members. Recognizing the importance of streamlined procedures and resources, I curated a comprehensive database of standard operating procedures (SOPs), essential resources, and pertinent data. Further, I addressed issues of duplicate, contradicting, and unclear resources by working with other departments for permission, execution, clarification, documentation, and re-writing. The database, thoughtfully categorized for seamless navigation and made easily searchable based on feedback from end-users, served as a centralized hub, empowering team members with quick access to vital information essential for optimal performance.

With both the Jammernomicon and Logic Path Databases, I built the framework for the databases using Kartra's website design system. Further, I created a training video for end-users to ensure they knew how to use the database, answered questions in a team meeting, and added links to these resources to appropriate employee materials.

Logic Path Database

Dec. 2021 - Feb. 2022

Building upon the success of the "Jammernomicon," I was also working on a parallel initiative – the creation of the "Logic Path" database at Genesis Digital. This endeavor aimed to bridge the gap in technical knowledge and documentation, particularly pertinent to our software support team. There was a large amount of tribal knowledge that was not reflected in our training or documentation and relied almost entirely on a few key members of the team conveying this information when asked for troubleshooting assistance. Collaborating closely with stakeholders across departments and management levels, I orchestrated the compilation and categorization of critical technical insights, equipping our team with a robust reference tool to navigate intricate software nuances and troubleshoot effectively that combined both documentation and tribal knowledge to create a singular database of knowledge that could be easily searched. The system was efficient enough that it could even be used by live-chatting end-users on the technical support team.

With both the Jammernomicon and Logic Path Databases, I built the framework for the databases using Kartra's website design system. Further, I created a training video for end-users to ensure they knew how to use the database, answered questions in a team meeting, and added links to these resources to appropriate employee materials.

Periodicals Database

Circa 2015

Reflecting on my tenure at the Rochester Institute of Technology library, I undertook a significant project focused on revitalizing the periodicals section and enhancing accessibility for patrons where no previous system for check-out exsisted. Tasked with reorganizing the collection and implementing an efficient circulation system that worked within the Circulation Department's already existing system for books, I sorted through diverse periodicals and devised a user-friendly organization scheme. Leveraging resourcefulness and innovation, I devised a practical solution using standard office supplies, ensuring seamless integration into existing library operations and exceeding project timelines with exceptional efficiency. Further, I made sure the system was adaptable in the future, ensuring that as the periodicals collection changed, the alphabetical system of a physical database could be maintained with relative ease, and even among high employee turnover, as this was handled by student workers.
